Why a used car?
A new car loses the most value in its first years. Buy it after 2 to 4 years and the first owner has already paid for that loss. With financial lease you see that straight away in a lower monthly payment.
Who can you buy from?
- Dealer or car company: almost always possible.
- Marktplaats or AutoScout24: yes, if the seller is a business.
- Private seller: sometimes possible, with extra checks.
Check the car beforehand
With our licence plate check you instantly see the year, MOT (APK), list price and whether it has a grey licence plate. And what the car costs you per month.
How old can a used car be?
Most lenders use a rule of thumb: the age of the car plus the term shouldn't exceed 10 to 12 years. So a 5-year-old car is usually financed over a maximum of 5 to 7 years. For older cars or youngtimers the term is shorter and the interest rate a bit higher.

VAT car or margin car?
With a VAT car the VAT is shown separately on the invoice and you reclaim it. With a margin car (often from private sellers) you can't. So a VAT car of € 24.200 costs your business € 20.000, while a margin car of € 22.000 simply costs € 22.000. Calculate VAT.
Bijtelling on a used car
You pay bijtelling on the original list price, not on what you pay. An electric used car keeps the percentage of its first registration for 60 months. How it works.
Private seller, dealer or marketplace?
We finance used cars from dealers, car companies and via platforms such as Marktplaats, AutoScout24 and Gaspedaal. With a private seller we sometimes ask for extra security, such as a pre-purchase inspection. Paste the listing link into the calculator and see your monthly payment instantly.
